The Hornets haven't played their most impressive basketball of the season in doing so, but they have matched their longest winning streak of the season.
They won their fourth straight when they overcame a four-point deficit in the last minute and a half to win on the road against the Nets, 99-96, Sunday night. This came 48 hours after they blew a 17-point fourth-quarter lead and rallied to beat the Bucks in the final seconds. The streak started with narrow wins against the Kings and the Pistons.
The Hornets, 36-22, will try for their season-best fifth straight victory when they visit the 76ers Monday.
"We're really trying to put some wins together," forward David West said. "Every night that we come out and play aggressively and get a win, we're doing what we want to do."
HORNETS 99, NETS 96: Chris Paul made two key steals and hit the go-ahead basket in the final minute as the Hornets edged the Nets for a road victory Sunday night.
The Nets led, 94-90, until the Hornets' Rasual Butler made a three-pointer with 1:17 remaining. Paul stole the ball a few seconds later and then made a jumper that gave the Hornets a one-point lead with 40.5 seconds left.
Paul made another steal with 37 seconds left, and after a Paul miss, Tyson Chandler tipped an offensive rebound to Peja Stojakovic. Ultimately, Butler was fouled and made two free throws to give the Hornets a three-point lead with 9.6 seconds left.
Bobby Simmons made two free throws for the Nets, James Posey made two for the Hornets, and the Nets' Devin Harris missed a desperate three-pointer at the buzzer.
