 --Point guard Chris Paul missed his eighth consecutive game because of a severely sprained left ankle when the Hornets lost to the Lakers on Tuesday night. Though the Hornets continue to say Paul is sidelined indefinitely, it appears his return could come in the not-too-distant future. He shed his walking cast more than a week ago and has been doing shooting and conditioning drills. Before Tuesday's game he ran sprints across the court and ran while dribbling without exhibiting any significant limp. He could be back in action by mid-December. --Starting F Peja Stojakovic missed his second consecutive game Tuesday night because of the illness of an unidentified member of his family. His return is uncertain. James Posey made his second consecutive start in Stojakovic's absence, the only two starts in his two seasons with the Hornets, and had seven points and four rebounds in 30 minutes. --One game after being outscored, 54-21, by their Kings counterparts, the Hornets bench outscored the Lakers bench, 41-34.
