--The Hornets' Byron Scott was named NBA Coach of the Year on Tuesday after leading the Hornets to their first division championship in franchise history and a franchise-record 56 regular-season wins. Scott was introduced as the winner at a morning news conference, then officially received the award shortly before tip-off of Game 5 against the Mavericks in the New Orleans Arena. "I was embarrassed more than anything else," Scott said of the fanfare. "If it were up to me, I'd just walk up, accept the award, say thanks, I appreciate it, and get out of there. I've got to give the credit to the guys in the locker room. They do all the work in carrying out the game plan."
--The Hornets set an NBA record for the fewest turnovers committed in a five-game playoff series -- 42. The previous record was 48, set by the Pistons against the Hawks in 1997. QUOTE TO NOTE: "That's truly an honor. He's one of the best who ever played. But I still feel like I have a long way to go." -- Hornets point guard Chris Paul on Mavs Coach Avery Johnson comparing him to Hall of Fame point guard Nate Archibald.
