New Orleans Hornets Notes, Quotes 2009-04-04
--Even though the Warriors only used two players off the bench and the Hornets used four, the two benches were even with 15 points each.

--The Hornets, who had shot 54 percent and 53 percent in the first two games on the trip, shot just 43 percent against the Warriors, who allow 47 percent shooting on average.

--F David West's missed free throw in the fourth quarter ended his streak of 40 consecutive free throws made, two short of Dell Curry's franchise record.

--G Chris Paul was named as the Western Conference Player of the Month for March. It's the second time this season Paul has won the award, tying the Lakers' Kobe Bryant for the most selections, and the fourth time Paul has won the honor in his career. Paul has also been named Western Conference Player of the Week a conference-best four times this season.

Paul helped lead led the Hornets to an 11-5 record, averaging 24.2 points, 10.8 assists, 5.9 rebounds and a conference-best 3.2 steals. He shot .517 from the field and .944 from the free-throw line. Paul had one triple-double and 10 double-doubles.

--The Hornets split the four-game season series against the Warriors, matching their record against the Trail Blazers and the Nuggets. Earlier on the trip they finished off 3-1 series advantages by beating the Kings and the Clippers, which was the same record they had against the Grizzlies.

Elsewhere in the West, the Hornets split four games against the Nuggets and the Trail Blazers, swept four games from the Thunder, won two out of three against the Timberwolves, and lost three of four to the Lakers. The Hornets have swept seven Eastern Conference opponents -- the Bucks, the Wizards, the 76ers, the Nets, the Pistons, the Pacers, and the Raptors. They split the season series with three Eastern teams -- the Magic, the Cavaliers, and the Bobcats -- and were swept, 2-0 by three teams from the East -- the Bulls, the Celtics, and the Hawks.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "We want to gradually build his minutes back up." -- Coach Byron Scott, on his plan to bring F Peja Stojakovic off the bench for a few games as Stojakovic works his way back from back spasms.
