Hornets to visit Mandeville
The New Orleans Hornets will hold a Basketball clinic for boys and girls between the ages of 7-14 on July 21 at Pelican Park.
The camp will include three hours of Basketball instruction and fundamentals, an appearance by Hornets forward Rasual Butler and Hugo the Hornet, giveaways, contests and more. The registration fee for the clinic is $10 per child.
Space for each clinic is limited, so fans must register online at www.Hornets.com. The clinic will begin at 9 a.m. and finish at noon. On-site check-in is one hour prior to the start of each clinic. Each participant also will receive a Hornets Summer Hoops T-shirt for completing the camp.

--- AAU tryouts in Mandeville ---
Northshore Basketball Training Center in Mandeville will hold tryouts for AAU teams on July 25.
Boys and girls 8-14 years old may attend. Children 8-9 years old will tryout from 10-11 a.m. Boys and girls 10-11 will try out from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Boys and girls ages 12-14 will try out from noon until 1 p.m. Tryouts will be a short skills workout. Players must wear tennis shoes and shorts. Details on the AAU season and training will be given out at this time.

Southeastern Louisiana University mens Basketball coach Jim Yarbrough will hold a Basketball camp at Coquille Sports Complex on July 15-17.
The camp is for boys and girls ages 5-13 and will be held from 9 a.m. to noon each day. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Madisonville Youth Boosters Basketball program.

Village Church has tourney
The Village Men's Club first golf tournament will be held Sunday at noon, with a 1 p.m. tee time at Royal Golf Course in Slidell.
The cost for this four-person scramble is $50 per golfer, which includes a cart and green fee, practice balls, food and beverages/beer, closest-to-the-hole and longest drive contests, door prizes, ditty bags and a free prize ticket.
Teams of four registering will save $20 with a $100 hole sponsorship. The team cost would be $280. Mulligans will be available and a separate putting contest will be held. Prizes will be presented to the first- through third-place finishers.

The Lake Pontchartrain Sail and Power Squadron will present America's Boating Course on July 18 at the Maritime Museum at 133 Mabel Drive in Madisonville from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The course material will include an introduction to boating, federal and state boating laws, personal safety equipment, navigation, personal water craft and more.
